Personal Care & Cosmetics Products

Many personal care products (shampoo, perfume, soap, make up) contain and release chemicals of high concern, such as phthalates and alkylphenols. Phthalates can be toxic to the reproductive system and are linked to increased incidences of childhood asthma. Alkylphenols are of concern because they can disrupt the balance of the human hormone system.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics is a coalition working to protect your health by calling for the elimination of chemicals used in the cosmetics industry linked to cancer, birth defects and other health problems. More than 150 cosmetics companies have signed the Compact for Safe Cosmetics, a pledge to remove hazardous chemicals from their products.
