
Chris Geiger of SF Environment dug into the method and findings of San Francisco's recent report, "Safer Products and Practices for Disinfecting Surfaces". He provided an overview of the health and environmental risks of sanitizers and disinfectants as well as examples of safer alternatives.
Chris Geiger is the manager of the Green Purchasing and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs for the City and County of San Francisco. He coordinates green purchasing program activities including the management of consultant contracts and development of environmental specifications for city contracts. He facilitates a technical advisory committee to reduce pesticide use on city property. Chris sits on the Advisory Council for the Electronic Products Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT) and has served as a member of the US Green Building Council's Materials and Resources Technical Advisory Group.
